Turbulence

Rich Task

Name of problem: Holiday Pay
Describe the problem: It was quite an easy problem, because I did it so fast that I finished it myself and was able to help everyone else in my group finish, and also finish my reflection before the math section was up.
These are the strategies and knowledge I used to solve the problem.
(add more bullet points for each step)

  1. ¾ of $60 =$15
  2. ⅓ of $15 = $5
  3. $15 - $5=$10
  4. $10- $4 = $6
  5. 6 goes into 60 10 times =10/60 = 1/10
Describe how you used 2 learning muscles:
Interdpecdece: We knew when and when not to talk to each other.
Making Links: We made links to what we know to solve the problem.
Absorption: We were absorbed and got the task done fast.
Capitalising: We use our time well.

Now add 2 teaspoons of borax to the hot water and store it until the borax is 100% dissolved. Now finally pour your glue mixture into the bowl with the borax in it and now you have some amazing slime that you can play all day with.

Maori Hand Games

Last Thursday I went to Maori hand games in the hall. it was a very fun experience because it was it was cool challenge.

It was a fun because I din't think it would be fun because I all ready done this for 2 years. But it was a challenge because Sklya had been doing it for the same amount of years. So we set our self's a challenge to see who was better at each activity by racing each other.

I really enjoyed plying e hipitoitoi and hai tama to tama with Nehe. It was fun because Nehe is really good at e hipe toy toy and hai tama to tama and he gave me a real challenge because he would all ways bet me.

Maori hand games is a really experience, and sould be incurred to do more off ten in New Zealand.

The Bully Story

The Bully Story

Bullying is not a fun experience. I remember when I was being bullied as a year 2-3 kid. A boy in year 4-5 bullied me in all sorts of ways mentally, physically, and he emailed me the nastiest things ever (cyber bullying).

Image result for bullyingSometimes he would push me over and kick me on the ground. He would tease me and hurt my feelings by swearing at me and making fun of my family. He would use email to bully me, he would say threatening things that scared me a lot.

One day I was about to tell the teacher but then he ran up to me and said if you tell on me I’ll hurt you even more at lunch. The worst thing was that I thought I was safe nowhere because he would always have a way to bully me. The bully made me feel nervous and furious that I would never ever be safe.

After a couple of years, I had finally had enough! And I told my teacher and they quickly sorted the situation out. I have never been bullied since. I wish that I have told the teacher faster because then the bullying would of been over quicker. If you are being bullied then go and tell a teacher straight a way because then you won't be bullied for a long period of time.

HBHS Performance

To HBHS:

You did an amazing performance at your school today. I was shock to see how incredible you were. Your voices were pitch perfect and I'm 100% sure that the whole school loved it and thought that it was an amazing performance.

The Kapa Haka boys did a wonderful job in all of their songs they sounded amazing . When they performed their Haka could hear the mana in their voices they sounded so strong, proud, and brave.

The Pasifika boys sounded did an amazing job with pitch perfect voices and I wish that I could have a voice as good and as amazing as theirs. It was really cool how they got everyone involved.

Your Sincerely

Cyclone Cook

I was getting into bed. Everyone the house was still going on about Cook. I didn't know why though nothing has happened yet, well except all the wind and loud waves on the beach. I was just about to fall asleep but instead I heard a loud snap that was shortly followed by a big bang. A tree had just fallen on my room.

I briskly walked out of my room to tell mum. She was standing at the top of the stairs talking to my brother Oliver. I nervously Told her that a tree had just fallen in my room. She responded with ok in order that everyone goes down stairs and to and sleeps on the matress set up in dad and mums room. My brothers Louie and Oliver were starting to get very worried, because the storm was building up. Because my two younger brothers were starting to feel scared, I had to help them stay calm by telling them that everything was ok. By helping my brother's stay calm, it also so help me keep the house a little bit more calm.

It also help me stay brave in the storm, and also helped all of us get to sleep because the house was more calm. The next morning I woke up and saw a huge tree in the driveway. This made me very angry because my dad can’t get the mower down the driveway and the grass would get taller and we can't play anymore cricket. The wind that we had in the storm knocked over the tree which smash the fence.

Stoats

Stoat

Stoats are a pest in New Zealand because they threaten wildlife by eating eggs and killing the young of animals. These animals are one of the reasons that animals are becoming extinct in New Zealand.

They can live up to 4 - 6 years which may seem short but really is a lot of time for them to be causing mischief, and destroying our wild life. Stoats are mustelids, there are over 55 types of  mustelids that include Weasels and Ferrets. Stoats can have up to 3 babies at a time which make even more trouble to go round the New Zealand native bush.

A stoat has a body length between 16-30 centimeters long and can weigh  up to 455 grams. Stoats hair is a mix between white and  brown , they are a shorthair animal with sharp and small teeth.

Stoats can live just about anywhere in New Zealand as long as they can find prey. They can live on beaches, farmland, dunes, tussock and in any kind of forest. They can even live above the treeline in remote high country.

Their main prey are rats, mice, birds, rabbits, hares, possums and insects (particularly weta). Stoats will also eat lizards, freshwater crayfish, roadkill, hedgehogs and fish. If they get the chance, they’ll kill more than they need for food and hide the rest in their den to eat later. They can kill animals much bigger than themselves.

Stoat are very bad animals that are destroying your native bush and so that is why we kill as many stoats as we can.

Lost in the bush

Lost in the bush

It was the day of their school camp they had packed up and they were ready to go. There lived six kids that lived in an average town next to an average forest. But they were not so average people, their names were Steve, Chese, Bob, Daryl, Billy, and Tom.

When they arrived at the camp it was not what you think it would be it was surprisingly clean, even the teachers were surprised. After everything was packed up every one went down to the court yard  and that’s when the teachers said that we were going on a tramp around the mountain.

Then when the teachers finish talking Cheese put his hand up to go toilet because he was busting and he needed the key to unlock the toilet. But all the teachers said was hands down. So when they walking around the mountain instead of walking all he did was the pee-pee dance halfway round the mountain. Then he had had anaf and he said to his friends hey can you come with me. I need to take a wee, And they all said yes.

So Cheese went into the bush and off the path to take a wee-wee, once he had finished he said to his friends ok where’s the group but they all shrugged. Every one was a little scared or worried, no one knew what to do so Cheese said ok then this is what we will do. We will all walk as a group to find the path and get out of here. So they started walking and they heard a rustle in the bush.

So Cheese was the only one man unuf to take a look and he saw a black and white dairy cow that was actually quite fat. But then the cow spoke, the cow said that he wanted to go to the mmmooooooovies but his owner said no! So he ran a way, but he got lost in the bush a found a way out but when he did he saw his owner and has been hiding ever since.

So Cheese asked the cow how to get out of the bush and the cow said take a deep sniff. So Cheese did it and then he said that he could smell food so they followed the smell of food until he got to a road and saw pizza hut across the road so they went and had a snack.

Clifton County Cricket Club

The Clifton Cricket Club ground is a spectacular area that comes off groden road te awanga. It’s an artificial pitch that has a medium bounce to it.

The area surrounding the pitch a gorgeous sight to see, with huge  hills act like a grandstand that you can get the best view of the pitch.

But it’s not just hills there also extraordinary farmland that includes fields filled with sheep, that sometimes are allowed on the hills surrounding the pitch. But still not there also spectacular swampy wetlands that 100% fit in with gorgeous areas that are around the pitch.

This is my favorite place in Hawke's Bay because it is in the best location ever with amazing sights to see.

Card Game

Card Game

In math’s extension we played a card game in this game where we had to use our brains a lot. It was fun because I thought it was a challenge and I really enjoyed it.

Who to play:  To start you need a pack of cards, shuffle the cards, then you're finished you put the top four cards down. Now add all four cards together, now you have the number see if it is divisible by the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Once you have done that put those four cards in a pile to the side, when you have do that pick four more cards from the top and do the same thing again.

I learnt: What the divisibility rules are and how to use them.

Something I found tricky was:  I think that the tricky part was when we went from edition to multiplication.

What I want to learn next:  I think it would be good if I learnt my divisibility rules because it would be very helpful.

I enjoyed:   It was fun because I thought it was a challenge and I really enjoyed it.
